Thollon-les Mémises
50 minutes by car from Terre de Cocon.
If there are places in Haute-Savoie that offer breathtaking views, this is one of them, and by far my favorite.
Several options and itineraries are possible, depending on the profile of the hiker, his or her motivation for effort and the time available.
Easy hike: via the Thollon-les Mémises cable cart (approx. 1h30):
This hike is accessible to all, since the ascent to the summit is by cable cart.
Click on the link below to get all the information about the cable catr (prices, opening days, timetables, contact informations...).
Once you've got off the cable cart (and it's behind you), turn right and follow the path to the cross.
The viewpoints along the way and the panorama at the cross (about 30 minutes' walk or snowshoeing in winter) are breathtakingly beautiful. All photos on this page are from this hike.
It's simply magical! This outing offers a breathtaking view of the Alps, the Jura, Switzerland and Lake Geneva....

Pic des Mémises, an intermediate hike (3h):
Departure also possible from Bernex, from the Col de la Creusaz, from the same parking lot (large parking area reserved for hikers right next to the Alpage restaurant).
For the more sporty or motivated (5h) :
Ascent and tour of Les Mémises by ladder.

Gourmet break: Les Balcons du lac
Bistronomic summit restaurant with breathtaking lake and mountain views.
For a feast for the eyes and taste buds, I recommend this restaurant (located at the top of the gondola). It offers incredible panoramas and excellent cuisine.
